Types of Yoga

Hatha Yoga

Hatha is formed from the words “Ha” (sun) and “Tha” (moon). Hatha can also indicate strong or forceful. As a result, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Iyengar, and power yoga can all be classified as Hatha Yoga. Hatha yoga is a blend of stimulating and dynamic yoga postures (represented by the sun) and restful and meditative yoga postures (represented by the moon) that result in body equilibrium. This combination benefits the body the most and calms the body, mind, and soul in preparation for meditation.

Power Yoga

A power yoga class is a high-intensity session that includes a rigorous series of forceful asanas. Power Yoga is a strength-based practice that is best suited for intermediate to advanced practitioners. However, beginners are welcome to join our power yoga courses because we tailor the program to the audience.

Power yoga focuses on developing overall strength and flexibility. It boosts concentration and mental fortitude. Power yoga routines will make you sweat and purify your body.

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Classes

The origins of Ashtanga Yoga may be traced back to an old manuscript called Yoga Karunta, written by Vamana Rishi. T Krishnamacharya learned this scripture from his mentor Rama Mohan Brahmachari in the early 1900s. During his studies with T Krishnamacharya, K Pattabhi Jois was taught this information. K. Pattabhi Jois promoted Ashtanga yoga in the current era (1915-2009). Ashtanga yoga’s physically demanding and dynamic postures synchronize breath and body movement, resulting in the formation of internal heat that detoxifies the body. Ashtanga yoga is recommended for those who desire to strengthen their core muscles and tone their bodies. This leads in better blood circulation, a lighter and more physically powerful body, and a more serene mind. Vinyasa Yoga: Vinyasa means “to place in a particular way” in Sanskrit. Vinyasa yoga is a collection of poses performed in a certain order. Vinyasa is a yoga method that coordinates the flow of breath and body movements from one pose to the next.

The principles of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga are breath, bandhas (also known as energy locks), Drishti (a focus point of sight), and vinyasa (sequential movement). This style of yoga improves muscular strength while also reducing stress, tension, and anxiety.

Amar Srividya teaches the Primary and Intermediate Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a physically rigorous practice that combines Asanas and Vinyasa Flow with Ujjayi Pranayama (Ocean Breathing). When Ujjayi breathing is paired with Vinyasa Flow, heat is produced in the body, which leads to purification via increased blood circulation. A student’s health, flexibility, and risk of injury can all be improved with consistent practice.

Power yoga focuses on developing overall strength and flexibility. It boosts concentration and mental fortitude. Power yoga routines will make you sweat and purify your body.

Aerial Yoga

Aerial yoga combines traditional asana (the physical postures of yoga) and yoga philosophies with the aerial arts. Silk fabrics and/or ropes are hung from above to aid practitioners in forming shapes.

You can be fully supported by the silks — even lying down entirely, like in a hammock — or wrap the silks around particular body parts, keeping other parts on the floor.

Hanging fully or suspending individual body parts is believed to create traction and open your body more gently and intuitively than when you’re on the floor. The silks and ropes can also be helpful for balance.
